There is nothing more exciting for us that when we receive a notification that we have been tagged in some photos on social media! Wow, they did not disappoint! As soon as we saw a glimpse of Rachel’s gorgeous photos, we knew we wanted to know all the details!! We caught up with Rachel, who married in June, to find out more about her wedding…
Tell us a bit about the theme for your wedding?
Initially our wedding was to take place on 22 January 2022 but due to personal circumstances during
the wedding planning period, we decided to postpone our wedding by six months moving our wedding day to 2 June 2022. I had originally planned for a cosy winter themed wedding with beautiful dark floral arrangements and long-sleeved velvet bridesmaid dresses, however, with our date moving to the beginning of summer, the vision changed entirely – and at a rapid pace!
Simplicity, elegance and minimalism was key to me for my wedding and something I wanted to
maintain throughout. I wanted my wedding to be timeless and from the out-set envisaged a classic, glamorous theme.
Where was your venue?
My wedding venue was Orangetree House, a private wedding venue nestled on the shores of
Strangford Lough in the pretty village of Greyabbey in Northern Ireland. This was the perfect setting
for my intimate wedding. We got wonderful weather on the day, cloudy, but warm and dry, perfect
weather for our ice-cream cart! I cannot recommend both the venue and staff enough and cannot put into words how accommodating and helpful everyone was in making our day stress free and fun. My guests were and are still talking about the service provided, the quality of food, how beautiful the venue was and how relaxed the day was.
Which designer did you choose for your wedding dress?
The designer of my wedding dress was Martha Moscow and her collection hosts modern, chic and
minimalistic styles. When I began to try on dresses it became apparent that simplistic, no-fuss
dresses suited me better than others (fitting well into the theme of my wedding). The fabric of the
dress was Mikado satin, and it was the most soft, beautiful, rich material, which was so comfortable
and fitted like a glove. I would recommend Martha’s dresses to anyone looking for a sophisticated,
simplistic, elegant, royal themed gown.
At what moment did you know your dress was “The One”?
After visiting (many) Bridal shops in Northern Ireland, I finally found my dress in the lovely Peony
Bridal in Royal Hillsborough. For months I had really struggled to find ‘The One’ and after debriefing
Elsabeth in Peony, she chose some dresses for me to try on, one of which was “The One” (much to the relief of my Mother!). As an extreme over-thinker and worrier, I didn’t make a decision that night, but I did leave Peony dreaming of the dress I had just fallen in love with. (I of course played it cool and booked a follow up appointment a week later to try on the dress again). The following week, I couldn’t get in that dress quick enough! Elsabeth pinned my bow at the back and tied the look together with a stunning floor length pearl veil. At that exact moment I knew this was my dress. I said YES to the Dress! What a feeling! I was beginning to imagine I would never find ‘The One’.
How was your experience finding your Abbie Jade bridesmaids dresses?
What can I say, The Abbie Jade bridesmaid dresses in my opinion, were the absolute stars of the
show! I delegated the job of finding Bridesmaid dresses to my sister, as I didn’t know where to begin! With four bridesmaids the thought of finding a dress for them was giving me a headache before our search began. I really wanted dresses which were timeless and elegant to match my dress and our search began in a few local bridal shops. I couldn’t find anything different that I loved and nothing was jumping out at me. After much searching online one evening, my sister came across the Katie Bridesmaid Dress on Pippa Bridal’s Instagram page, which is the most gorgeous, chic Bridal shop in Coleraine, Northern Ireland.
We made our way to meet Aimee at Pippa Bridal during the summer of 2021, Aimee was incredibly
helpful, kind and welcomed us warmly into her shop. We tried on a number of dresses, however it
was evident from early stages that the Katie dress was – ‘The One for the girls!’ The girls and I fell in
love with it instantly – from the colour, to the style, to the fit and shape of the dress. It made the girls
feel and look a million dollars! The bridesmaid dresses truly were one of my favourite things about my wedding, and they really did complement my dress and the classic, timeless, glamorous, elegant, theme of the day. I am absolutely delighted we found these dresses and cannot recommend them enough.
Did you have a colour in mind for your bridesmaid dresses?
From the outset, I didn’t really have a clear vision of a colour for my bridesmaids, I did however know I
wanted a classic, simple colour and nothing too bright. I had gone back and forth with colours the
entire time, however, when I saw the Katie dress, I just knew the pink blush colour would work
perfectly. I knew from then onwards we could tone all outfits effortlessly and I could opt for a pop of
colour with my flowers to tie it altogether. The rest of the wedding planning in terms of flowers, flower girl dresses, accessories, Mother of the Bride outfit and so on fell into place and I could really envision what my day would look like.
How did your girls feel in their dresses?
It was really important to me that each of the girls loved their dresses as much as I did and felt
comfortable on the day. The girls absolutely fell in love with their dresses the first time they saw them and the fabric fitted around each body shape perfectly. Each girl commented on how comfortable they were all day and how glamours they felt in the dresses. They are all looking for an excuse to wear them again! The girls looked incredible; it was like having four Pippa Middleton’s by my side! The Katie dress was the perfect fit to my wedding, it had the right balance of elegance, sophistication with a modern twist all the same time. I truly loved them and have never seen Bridesmaid dresses like them – they certainly caught the eye of my guests too!
Looking back at your wedding day, what is one moment you’d love to relive?
Is it cheating if I say, I want to relive the whole day?
If I had to chose one moment to relive, it would probably be walking down the aisle. There was
nothing like seeing those that mean the most to me all in one room watching and smiling as my Dad
and I made our way down through the church. For me it was the one moment that made all the
planning worth it.
